Twilight tuesday at Hollywood & Twilight movie afterthoughts
hi guys! doing better today, considering what an insane week i had at work, and well..uh.. not to mention a freaky accident i had while driving home on the highway. stupid me, stupid black ice, stupid stop-sign post! actually slept most of the night, it was a sleep made by pure exhaustion, and lack of well.. sleep, so today while i feel tons better, i’m still groggy, because of well, lack of.. sleep.
well, thanksgiving came and gone. it’s just any other day for me. went to Subway, and got myself a turkey sandwich. i ate the turkey, im generally content, and im thankful that im breathing. so in other words, i stuffed myself silly and went to bed.
okay, i finally was able to upload all the photos and video clips i had from last Tuesday (nov. 18), when i was over at L.A. man, i had a blast there! everything about L.A. is fantastic. i love the energy of the city, the weather, the people, the food, the malls… heck, even ryan seacrest’s early morning radio gig was exciting. his twilight readings, and ryan’s roses are cool stuffs.
ok, so this is my twilight experience in LA.. i arrived monday afternoon at LAX. the red carpet premiere event was going to be at westwood theatre in hollywood that same night. it definitely would have been nice to go, and see all the casts and stars, but i knew that they’re only handing out a limited number of wristbands for the fan-viewing area, and im pretty sure i dont have a chance in hell of getting one, since most the fans already camped out the night before. i thought i’d save myself from being trampled to death from the crowd. it can get wild and crazy, especially when Rob’s coming.
day two, Tuesday – the one i was most looking forward to. my cuz, david got me the wristbdand for the paramore/twilight concert (thanks again!). i was just totally psyched for paramore. im a huge fan of theirs, long before they were even involved with twilight. i had their album Riot on repeat in my iPod. “Misery Business” is like the anthem of the year for me. it never grows old.. hehe =) so we got there early, almost around 12 noon. as i’ve said before, i want to be at a concert within the first few rows, or its just not a concert at all. went in.. found a good spot somewhere in center barricade, met some cool people there while waiting. wasnt long when i saw Hayley and Josh came up on stage… turned out they were doing soundcheck! wow! Hayley was really nice and friendly interacting with fans. there wasnt that many people yet, so minus the pushing and shoving, i got some really good shots of Hayley and Josh. Josh looked buffed, and so totally hot in person. they just played a little part from Decode, but i was already very happy and excited to actually see them.
after that, it was another long wait, under the burning sun! good thing they were handing out pizzas and water. dont want anyone to faint, i guess..
time went by fast, and the next thing u know, its 4 o’clock. Kristen stewart and Nikki reed, from Twilight introduced Paramore, and show’s on the way. As always, hayley’s amazing live. they know how to put on a great show. zach was a beast on the drums. i love em all. i had a rockin’ headbangin’ good time. i wish they could have performed more songs, like “crushcrushcrush” or my favorite, “for a pessimist, im pretty optimistic”. but they only did 4 sets, and i thought the finale “Decode” was sick! Hayley’s range and charisma on stage was mindblowing!
After Paramore’s Lost Show, came the Twilight QandA. the crowd went nuts when ashley, kellan, nikki, jackson and taylor came up on stage. geez, those stupid teenage girls screamed like shit. i swear to god my ears were bleeding.. i never wanted to grab those ear plugs from a security guy so badly. it actually was annoying really.. i mean its supposed to be a Q&A, not a scream fest. but still, my focus was on Jackson Rathbone! it’s one of those OMFG moment for me. he’s so dreamy and gorgeous…
check out this short video clip i got during the Q&A. sorry, sound’s flooded and crappy. i could care less about taylor and his werewolf lineage.. i think vampires are waaay hotter! haha!
the autograph signing came next. the line was insane. it stretched a couple of blocks away from the mall. because i was at the front rows, i was able to line up first, so i was ahead of the pack. so while standing in line, i had it all premeditated in my head, that when it gets to my turn to meet Jackson, i was going to introduce myself, and tell him how much i adore him as Jasper in Twilight. but it didnt exactly happened that way… call it starstrucked or whatever, but my mind just went blank when i was in front of him. he smiled the most beautiful smile ever, and i just blurted out, “Jackson, you’re beautiful!” i must have gotten his and ashley’s attention, coz they both looked up at me. Ashley agreed with me, and said “yes, he is”. and Jackson went all shy and blushing, saying “no, but thank you.” finally, i asked him, “can i shake your hand?”, then he pulled out his hand, and gave me a nice quick handshake. for a moment there, i was in cloud nine! weee =)
i had dinner at Geisha that night with dave, alice and family, and cant help gushing over Jackson, Twilight and Paramore. and there u go, my Twilight tuesday is complete! =)
Friday, Nov 21st — okay this is getting to be a very long post, so ill make this short. i went to see Twilight on opening day, and still, there were a bunch of crazy teenage girls screaming every single time edward appeared on screen! i mean yes, edward is hot and all, and im sure i wasnt the only one melting in my seat staring at his perfect face for 2 hours.. but seriously, i wished they’d stop with the screaming. its so annoying.
so what do i think of the movie? it was just OK! i wasnt satisfied, though. it certainly paled in comparison to the book. the story was pretty accurate, along with the scenes they put in the movie, but i thought the directing, and the sequence of events were horrible. there were too much close-ups, and spinning-around-the-character angle in the movie. the special effects werent that great either, but i guess they did the best they could given the low budget of the film.
i know the main story revolves around bella and edward and their forbidden love… but they totally dismissed the Cullens. there was absolutely no character development on them, whatsoever. poor alice, jasper, and emmet had only, like 5 lines in the movie. f*ckin ridiculous! alice is my favorite vampire, and she played a big role in the book. there was even no mention of jasper’s ability to manipulate emotions, and carlisle’s history was never told. i thought those were important elements that should have been included in the movie. perhaps, they should hire a better screenplay writer next time.
with that said, the movie had its saving graces. the baseball scene was fun to watch. Rob’s perfect for edward. and Kristen actually surprised me. she played Bella really well… ok maybe the stuttering thing during the hospital scene was a bit over exaggerated, but all in all, she did a good job.
New Moon will follow next in the movie franchise. hopefully, it’ll be made better, and alice and jasper should get more screen time!

Hi Joanne! Glad you enjoyed L.A. I’m so jelous you get to meet Jackson Rathbone, and the rest of the casts. You’re right about the movie, though. Content-wise, it was lacking. Me and Jess went to the midnight showing, and I was like, where the heck was Alice the whole time?! God knows we love the books, but sadly, the movie was totally forgettable.
Hey, if you’re still around next summer.. you and me should take a road trip to Washington, and visit Forks! Bella’s old Chevy truck is parked there somewhere… lol!

I didn’t read the rest of your post. sorry! I didn’t want to read the spoilers. I just read the first book and it’s got me hooked. Meyer’s got the gift of hooking thousand of teenagers by making that Edward dude a character who could make all those crazy girls’ underwear fall off.
I am so effin jealous you got to see the cast. Screams are great.
I’ll be screaming alone here in China as no one has ever heard of Twilight yet. Probably in the privacy of my own flat with a pirated DVD. I’d prefer the screaming, there’s a sense of wonder when you’re watching it with others who’re hyped as you (even more so). I’ve yet to infect my teen girls on this phenomenon.
By the way, you’re the expert –if the Twilight book was such a hit why did they make a low budget movie?

I love Hayley’s “Kiss Me. I Don’t Smoke” shirt! I guess she’s an anti-cancer advocate. That’s very cool of her.

@ sheila
hi sheil! woops, no spoilers intended. i just needed to spew some stuffs out. hahaha! its coz i feel like they totally left out alice and jasper in the movie.
pirated dee-bee-dee?! LOL! im sure u can find one somewhere. i downloaded one off the internet. hehehe.. and so, i had watched twilight a dozen times now. edward still dazzles me!
hmm.. why they made a low budget film.. beats me! maybe they underestimated the grossing power of chick-flicks and the twi-hard fan-base.. plus, summit acquired the rights for the movie, and its not exactly a huge movie studio/company.
ok, lemme know what u think of the movie when u see it
